In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs in just six months. A mix between Reggaeton and pop was released in the year 2017 by the Puerto Rican musician Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee. The track was the top-streamed song at the in just six months. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish in 2016, compared to two in the year 2015. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017, there were 19 mainly Spanish tracks which made it into the top 100. Then in 2020 it was 41. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages to Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna together with Maluma on Medellin (2019). Some reggaeton artists have criticized the shift to mainstream music in the year 2020. A newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the evolution and development of reggaeton. It often blended elements from electronic dance music and other forms.
