After taking classes and being a background actor in Canadian programs like Road to Avonlea, Harriet the Spy and Goosebumps and was offered speaking roles on the Canadian horror television series Afraid Of The Dark? and Goosebumps. The shows were both aired by YTV. "2" After commercials and part in Goosebumps and other films which included The Dresden Files (Mom's had A Date with a Vampire, Alley Cats Strike, Prom Queen, The Marc Hall Story), Vandervoort landed the lead role on CTV's teen drama Instant Star. The series lasted four seasons. Vandervoort began her feature film debut in 2006 when she appeared on The Lookout. She starred in the film alongside Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Matthew Goode was also on the show. Vandervoort got a role in Smallville, a serial drama that airs on The CW. Her character is Clark Kent's Kryptonian "Kara Kent", the woman who would later transform into Supergirl. Season 7, she was a regular in the series. She was featured in "Bloodline" episode, which was the eighth season episode. She returned to Smallville for two additional episodes throughout the last season and was also her tenth. [4] Following The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort was able to film the sequel to the feature film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman was her next independent film. The film also featured Canadian performers Michael Ironside and Corey Sevier.
